Dominic Howard to Represent Barbados at UCI 2.2 Jamaica International Cycling Classic
Kingston, Jamaica – Barbadian cyclist Dominic Howard is set to compete in the prestigious UCI 2.2 Jamaica International Cycling Classic this week, marking a major step forward in his professional racing career.
The 25-year-old rider, known for his strength in time trials and his aggressive style of racing, will line up against an international field of competitors as he represents both his home country and the growing wave of Caribbean cycling talent making a mark on the global stage.
Howard enters the race with strong form, having claimed second place in the Elite Men's Individual Time Trial at the 2024 Barbados National Championships and a top-20 finish at the Caribbean Road Championships. His presence in a UCI 2.2 event signals both his personal ambition and the increasing competitiveness of riders from the region.
“This is a big opportunity,” Howard said ahead of the event. “Racing at this level, especially so close to home, is something I’ve been working toward. I’m proud to represent Barbados and excited to test myself against some of the best riders out there.”
The Jamaica International Cycling Classic, sanctioned by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI), features multiple stages across the island and provides riders with the chance to earn valuable UCI points. For Howard, it’s also a chance to gain exposure to larger teams and potentially open the door to future racing opportunities abroad.
The event begins later this week and will run through the weekend, with teams from across the Americas and Europe expected to take part.
